About Richard G. Rouse, M.D.

Originally from Chicago, Dr. Rouse received his medical degree from Loyola University, Stritch School of Medicine where he is a member of Alpha Signa Nu Jesuit honor society. He has been with South Texas Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgical Associates since its origin in September of 1997, and is currently serving as the Secretary/Treasurer. He has practiced in San Antonio since 1981 caring for both children and adults. Dr. Rouse is a Diplomat of the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Thoracic Surgery.

He completed his General Surgery and Cardiothoracic surgery residencies at the University of Alabama Hospitals in Birmingham, Alabama. He had additional training with Dr. Maurice Lev at the Congenital Heart Disease Research and Training Center in Chicago, Illinois, and with Dr. Alain Carpentier at the Hopital Broussais in Paris, France.

Dr. Rouse has authored several publications.
